Meet the Little Yellow

One of Tobago’s quietest little treasures: a soft flash of lemon sunshine dancing low over open ground.

Scientifically known as Eurema venusta (or Pyrisitia venusta), this delicate butterfly has been part of the island’s recorded wildlife for over a century. You’ll spot it along roadsides, forest edges, sunny clearings and garden margins, fluttering just above the ground in search of nectar and its host plants.

Small, bright and often overlooked, the Little Yellow adds its own gentle charm to Tobago’s natural tapestry. Next time you’re on a trail around Charlotteville, Speyside or any open sunny spot, keep your eyes low; you might just catch this little beauty in the light.
